Summer is heating up with these reads!

The Bookcase Beauty

I'm bringing you breaking Onyx Storm news, Katherine Center updates, my July book club pick, the one tool you need to run a successful book club, and *the* summer sandals I can't stop getting complimented on!

Hey friends!

Summer is here and it feels so nice... in the air conditioning! :)

If you missed it, I'm pregnant! My reading went way down, as did my general level of energy. I'm in the second trimester now and starting to get back in the swing of things!

Next week is a big week! We have Amazon Prime Deal Days July 16-17 and the insider deals are looking great! I'm putting together a list of my tried and true favs that are on sale and will share them right here in a newsletter.

Next week is also my first ever reading retreat to Key West with 15 other women! We have an awesome trip planned. I can't wait to bring you along for the ride. Keep a lookout on Instagram stories!

"All books are magic. An object that can take you to another world without even leaving your room? A story written by a stranger and yet it seems they wrote it just for you or to you? Loving and hating people made out of ink and paper, not flesh and blood? Yes, books are magic. Maybe even the strongest magic there is."

Onyx Storm Cover Reveal

Rebecca Yarros partnered with TODAY to share the cover of her forthcoming novel, Onyx Storm, the third installation in the viral best-selling Empyrean series!

No synopsis yet, but if you read Iron Flame then you don't need one. You just need answers.

It will release on January 21, 2025! I'll share more here in the months to come.

Katherine Center makes me love her books even more

You may recall a few months ago, I made a big confession that attending author events was not living up to my expectations. Kind of the "don't meet your heroes" vibe. I vowed to take a step back from author events for my own sake of separating the creator from the work.

Katherine Center is the exception, not the rule. She is pure delight and joy. I've attended three of her book tours and was lucky to cheer her on during the Netflix premier of Happiness for Beginners.

Her newest novel, The Rom-Commers, is pure adorableness!

At her Fort Worth stop, she led us through line dancing and even read an excerpt from her next novel! She didn't share a title, but I know it takes place in Key West, Florida and the love interest is a rescue swimmer for the Coast Guard! *swoon*

Our July book club pick is The Turtle House by Amanda Churchill

Three things I love:

  • a Texas setting
  • a historical fiction that transports
  • dual timelines

Several months ago, Amanda reached out via a DM offering me an early copy of her book. It sounded amazing so I said yes!

I quickly fell in love with Lia and her Grandminne.

Coincidentally, a local friend chose this book to read with her book club and she invited me to join in! Amanda attended the discussion and I fell in love with the book even more.

I can't wait to read this with the club - and Amanda! She'll be joining our discussion! Join us below!

This tool will help you run book club like a literal pro

I've been working on something behind the scenes for a while that I'm so excited about and you're hearing it here first!

One of the biggest conversations I have starts like this: "How do you run your book club? I just feel like I have no idea where to start."

Running a book club is simultaneously amazing and a significant amount of work!

Enter: BOOK CLUB KITS

I've been designing book club kits that are a one-stop shop for everything you need to run a successful book club with details like discussion questions, song playlists, food ideas, and more!

This is my educator background manifested in a new way!

I have four available right now and am actively planning to make more. If you'd like me to make one that isn't available, fill out the form below or reply to this email and tell me!

The sandals I'm obsessed with this summer

These Steven Madden sandals caught my eye one day while scrolling for vacation outfits and I couldn't stop thinking about them.

I was a little cautious to buy them online without trying them on, so I went to a local Steve Madden store and checked them out. I'm glad I did - you need to size up a full size.

I fell in LOVE.

When's the last time someone complimented you in an airport? Never?

It happened three times with these shoes on my recent trip.

There are also some great dupe options out there if you're styling on a buget!

I'd love to hear from you! Let me know what you think of the Onyx Storm cover, have questions about joining the book club, or even just to say hi!

I hope you have a great week!

With joy,

Katelyn
