Sleep Secrets for Restful Nights

It's Sleep Awareness Week and I can't miss this opportunity to share my secrets for the best sleep of my life.

Mom life has got me *worn thin* many days, which makes getting a great night's sleep even more valuable. So, how do I turn off my brain and slow down my body? Here's the routine that's taken me from stress-flopping around my bed to zombie-mode sleep. I wake up calm and rested.

Best Night of Sleep You'll Get Routine:

  1. Turn off the blue light on your phone!!! Like, all the time. It's terrible for your eyes and causes your body to produce cortisol. More stress = Less rest. If you have an iPhone, you can't turn this off completely. I have mine set to be off between 12:00am-11:59pm, which means that technically there's one minute a night when blue light is on but I'm getting the best night of sleep ever so it doesn't matter. If you can't do blue light off all the time, turn sleep mode on. This will turn off blue light in the evening hours. This signals the brain to start winding down.
  2. About an hour before bed, make your Beam Dream! This is my secret weapon for zombie-mode sleep.
